We will serve a hot lunch afterward to say thank you. Only heavy rain and/or thick fog will cancel.

Recommended for 12 years and older; no gardening experience required, but there will be bending and kneeling (pads and gloves will be provided) and some light hoeing.

AARP Tax-Aide

Appointments are available every Tuesday through April 3. AARP offers free tax-preparation help to anyone, especially those 50 and older. AARP asks that you bring with you to the appointment all tax-related materials, plus copies of photo IDs and Social Security cards for everyone who is going to be listed on the tax return.

Join your Ingleside District police officers for coffee and conversation. It’s a casual environment that promotes better community policing by bringing officers together with the public they serve. So, stop by on your way to work for a few minutes or hang out awhile.

8:30-11 a.m.; meet at Higher Grounds, 691 Chenery Street

This event is sponsored by Meet Up. To sign up, go to meet up.com and join the Stairs & Trails Urban Hiking Club. Loop Hike through Glen Park and Glen Canyon starts promptly at 9 a.m. and ends back at Higher Grounds. The 2-hour, 4-mile hike is rated 3 out of 5 for difficulty. Dogs are not permitted.

Explore the upper reaches of Glen Park that contained the last vestiges of the district’s rural history through the 1950s with Glen Park historian Evelyn Rose. Learn more about communists in Diamond Heights, a forgotten Moorish castle, and Glen Park’s connection to a significant boxing event. Moderately strenuous. Rain cancels. Suggested donation: $10. Plaque Dedication, The First Dynamite Factory in America

1-3 p.m., Glen Canyon Recreation Center, 70 Elk Street

Join us as we celebrate the placement of the plaque for this California State Historical Landmark commemorating the first dynamite factory in the United States, personally licensed by inventor Alfred Nobel. The Native Sons of the Golden West, who supported the purchase, production, and shipment of the plaque, will perform their time-honored dedication ceremony that is over a century old. We will hear guest speakers, and afterwards enjoy cake and refreshments. Don’t miss it!

 

Glen Park School PTO Auction

This event is open to the public, and we encourage our neighbors to come see our community in action. Dinner, dancing, and our famous auction margaritas should not be missed. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at our website glenparkschool.org and local social-networking services.

Join Glen Park historian Evelyn Rose on this moderately difficult 1.3-mile stroll through Glen Canyon as we discover the natural and cultural history of this Significant Natural Resource Area in the heart of San Francisco.

Sunnyside History Walk: A Walk Down Mid-Century Monterey Boulevard

Bulb Planting on the Glen Park Greenway!!

Please join Friends of the Glen Park Greenway to plant tulips and daffodils this coming weekend. All ages welcome!

We have prepared a 20' x 8' bed on the Glen Park Greenway in front of the raised bed behind St. Johns School (near Burnside Avenue). Just stop by on Saturday March 20 or Sunday March 21 from 10am to 2pm and ask for Kathy or Scott.

Masks and social distancing will be required for everyone
