September 22nd’s magnitude 4.3 earthquake rippled through the Bay Area, and 90 percent of us grimaced when remembering the last time we updated our earthquake kits.
Come to the October 15 Glen Park Association quarterly meeting to find the answer to the perennial question: what’s the least amount of preparedness I can get away with and not feel like a fool when the Big One hits?
From swapping out soup cans to tying a tourniquet, Captain Brandon Tom of the Neighborhood Emergency Response Team will talk about the ways big and small Glen Park can get ready for earthquakes, fires and floods.
While we’re at it, we’ll meet the new head of Ingleside Precinct, Captain Gerald Newbeck. Let him know you priorities and concerns.
Finally, SOMA resident Shaun Aukland will talk trees. Like Glen Park, SOMA has many narrow sidewalks, and a Public Works order from 2018 generally prohibits replacing trees on sidewalks less than 7-feet 6-inches wide. Aukland is challenging that rule and would like Glen Park to join him.
Please join us! Wednesday, October 15, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Glen Park branch of the San Francisco Public Library.
