As we prepare for the unwinding of summer and the start of school, we’d like to remind you that there are many ways you can connect with your community, and nurture yourself through the library. If animals help bring you to your happy place, consider learning a Bit About Bats with NorCal Bats or trying to identify bees with Planet Bee Foundation; Junior readers, ages 6–8, are invited to spend time with Jeffrey the therapy dog. Consider music therapy with Kathak dance, all ages karaoke, family dance parties, or a sound bath for grownups — note that we have just a couple of spaces left. And if the creative arts sooth your soul, you’ll likely want to join one of our watercolor, knitting, or writing circles. There are also plenty of opportunities to connect with others through food, movies, early learning play, infant parent support, and book clubs.
Glen Park Library also has plenty of Kenard Pak limited edition Summer Stride tote bags to celebrate your summer learning, reading and exploration, although we’ve run out of mini tote bags at this branch. You have until the end of August to let us know that you’ve accomplished 20 hours of learning, or completed the bingo card challenge, in celebration of Summer Stride, and collect your prize.
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month. To find out about all the Glen Park Library activities, stop by to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.
