Glen Park Library makes it too easy to get your free tote bag for Summer Stride after achieving 20 hours of learning, or completing the bingo card challenge, by providing a wealth of opportunities for all ages this July.
We’re excited to experience STEM workshops designed and run by Lowell High School students for youth ages 8–12. The Breakfast Project is also offering a rainbow of healthy and delicious foods for youth and their families as we learn about Harvey Milk, Gilbert Baker, and the history of the rainbow flag, then make get to make our own delicious fruit parfaits. The San Francisco Environment Department is going to visit the library twice this month, once to teach us how to make bookmarks from recycled materials while perusing climate action books for ages 11–18. They’re also teaming up with SCRAP to offer a clothing repair fix-it clinic; participants can bring one clothing item for repair.
This month we’re also kicking off the Bay on Film Society, where every first Wednesday of the month we’ll celebrate the Bay Area as seen through film. Wednesday, July 2nd, enjoy the 1950s film noir Woman on the Run and then head across the street to Glen Park Station to enjoy drink specials and discuss the film with other moviegoers. You can find our upcoming selections at on.sfpl.org/bofs and recommend your own favorite shot on location movies at on.sfpl.org/bofsrec
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month.
