City Agency Hearings

September 13, 2019 by Heather World

Mandelman and other Supes appear to have dueling proposals over how to handle the understaffed group home on Potrero, which should make for a spicy Government Audit and Oversight Committee meeting. See Mandelman Legislation, below

The following legislation is submitted under the “30-Day Rule,” meaning it must be proposed 30 days before any hearing. The 30-Day Rule legislation is reserved for proposals that would “create or revise major city policy.”

  • 190925 [Health Code – City-Operated Adult Residential Facility – 887 Potrero Avenue] Sponsor: Mandelman
Ordinance amending the Health Code to require the Department of Public Health to maintain and operate at full capacity a 55-bed adult residential facility located at 887 Potrero Avenue as soon as possible, but by no later than July 1, 2021, recognizing that before then 41 of the 55 beds may be used as emergency shelter for people experiencing homelessness. 9/10/19; ASSIGNED UNDER 30 DAY RULE to the Government Audit and Oversight Committee.

  • 190928 [Health Code – City-Operated Adult Residential Facility] Sponsors: Ronen, Haney, Walton, Peskin and Mar Ordinance amending the Health Code to require the Department of Public Health to maintain and operate at full capacity a 55-bed adult residential facility. 9/10/19; ASSIGNED UNDER 30 DAY RULE to the Government Audit and Oversight Committee.

The Recreation and Park Commission will meet Thursday, September 19, 10 a.m., in City Hall, room 416. Agenda

  • Say goodbye to a chuckwalla, 3 penguins and 0.0.1 of an Arrau turtle, my friends. They’re being donated to other zoos. Drone policy will be discussed as well as renaming Julius Kahn playground. The exciting alternatives include “Presidio Wall Playground” or “West Pacific Playground.” No wonder the chuckwalla wants out. It does also look as though they want to transfer $1m from the Open Space Acquisition Fund to deferred maintenance costs. If anyone has information about that, please report back!
