Saturday, April 8, 2017

An alert citizen, the internet, and a home security camera helped police capture a thief. The first, an alert citizen, called police to report a suspect at Diamond and Chenery who matched the description posted earlier from a homeowner on Swiss Street. The victim posted a picture from a front door camera showing the thief stealing four bags of dog food delivered to the homeowner’s front door. The officers placed the suspect in custody and drove him back to the address on Swiss Street where the homeowner gave the officers the video of the theft. The homeowner signed a citizen’s arrest form and the suspect was driven to Ingleside Station for booking. A records check of the suspect revealed previous arrests for grand theft, parole violation, and narcotics charges. A search of his clothing revealed methamphetamine and a pipe to smoke the substance.
