The fourth and final Glen Park Night Market was held on Saturday, September 20 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
The summer series was held on the third Saturday of each month, June through September from 4 to 8:30 p.m..
The one-block Kern Street and the adjacent parking lot sparkled with crafts from local artists and makers and a backdrop of live music and DJ sets. There was also a special section with activities for kids, including face-painting, stories, chalk drawing and bubbles to chase.
“The markets have been popular and well-attended,” said Diana Brito, who produced the events.
The series was funded by a grant from the Civic Joy Fund, which is responsible for First Thursdays downtown, block parties and other night markets across the city.
“We’re grateful to the Civic Joy Fund for footing the bill for a lively way to build community in Glen Park,” World said.
“This is about having community and families come together and have fun right here in the neighborhood,” said Brito. The markets have averaged more than 1,000 attendees each over the course of their four-hour runs along the one-block of Kern Street between Bosworth and Chenery.
