Glen Park Association supports Park measure B

September 29, 2012 by Elizabeth Weise

To GPA members – Support Prop B and help get out the vote

Proposition B – the Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bonds measure will support park improvements across San Francisco and fund the completion of the Glen Canyon Park Improvement Plan. The measure will complement the $6 million already committed to the Rec Center upgrade. Christopher Playground in Diamond Heights will also be rebuilt. In keeping with City policy, this bond will be funded as existing bonds get paid off, resulting in no increase to property tax rates.

The Glen Park Association members and board of directors are supporting the passage of Prop B, as is Supervisor Scott Wiener and all the Board of Supervisors, Mayor Lee, other officials and many community groups. Yes, San Francisco voters have historically approved such bond measures, but this measures needs a 67% majority to pass.

In this important election season, please consider giving some of your time to help get the Prop B message out. An hour or two of your time will have an impact. Vote-by-mail ballots go out in just weeks.

As president of the GPA, and a member of the “Yes on B” committee, I am asking for volunteers to:

Set up outreach “ironing boards” in Glen Park village on weekends in October and at the entrance to the Sunday Farmer’s Market.

  • Hand out flyers at the Glen Park BART station.
  • Work with the “Yes on B” committee if you can walk a nearby precinct and distribute posters.
  • And, very easy, e-mail your friends and families across San Francisco about the importance of voting for Prop B.

There is lots of information in the current Glen Park News, and Supervisor Scott Wiener has a great op-ed on Prop B this week: www.sfexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/2012/09/prop-b-will-invest-future-our-park

Please leave a message at 415 337-9894 or e-mail me at president@glenparkassociation.org with your availability and ideas.
Thank you!

Michael Rice

President, Glen Park Association
