Hear ye, hear ye!
Our fabulous Glen Park library branch is inviting you to express what makes you smile in Glen Park, in free verse, rhyme, haiku, or whatever style suits you. It was inspired by the many messages of love now memorialized on the Burnside tiled stairway. Many wrote about Glen Park, who in just a word –home, oasis, hearth, haven – spoke to stability, security, happiness. This poetry love fest, titled “I lift my heart in Glen Park,” was first launched last year. More than 20 heartfelt poems were submitted by children and adults. Back by popular demand, you can grab information from the library here.
Want inspiration? Stop by the Recreation Center in Glen Canyon where you can read your neighbors’ wonderful poems. Please bring or send your poem using the information in the above link to the Glen Park library by March 31.
Smile, please write legibly so that all can enjoy what you have written!
Here’s what your neighbors are saying:
A sunny one bedroom flat across from BART
The first place we lived together
Figs from the vendor on the corner of Diamond and Bosworth
Weekend hikes through the canon
Weekly cheese and CSA pickups on Chenery
Late night carnitas baby burritos after Work
Then sealing wedding invitations
One vow two kids and thirteen years later
Across the city now but Glen Park will always be
Part of the family story
