Party for the 1st Anniversary of the Burnside Steps AND SF Stairway Month 2025 (updated)

October 11, 2025 by Renee Berger, Glen Park Beautiful

Wow, time flies!

It is already one year since Burnside’s fabulous tiled stairway was completed.   And, it has been quite a year of local and even global recognition! In January the SF Chronicle named Burnside Steps as one of SF’s top 25 destinations for 2025.  Since then, there have been numerous shout outs about the project, with the most recent in the British travel magazine, Time Out, that many of you already know ranked Glen Park among the coolest neighborhoods in the world.  But, best of all, it brings joy to countless walkers, children and adults, from Glen Park and elsewhere.

It’s time to celebrate! On October 25th there will be music (bluegrass!) and merriment to celebrate two events: Burnside’s anniversary and the conclusion of SF Stairway Month October 2025. (See coverage of last year’s stairway event here.) You can give a rousing Glen Park welcome to dozens of walkers who will have trekked with tile artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher from 16th/Kirkham (Hidden Gardens) seeing several tiled stairways along the way and arrive at Burnside just as our party gets underway.

  • WHEN: October 25, 1:00-3:00pm
  • WHERE:  Burnside Mural/Tiled Steps (Between 50 & 59 Burnside Av.)

To help us have a count, please make a reservation here.

We’d love to see you!  There will be music, food, and activities for children.

The party is organized by Glen Park Beautiful.  For SF Stairway Month October 2025, GPB partners are the Civic Joy Fund, Crosstown Trails, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, San Francisco City Guides, SF Travel, and WalkSF.
