After 18 years in Glen Park, the owners of Viking’s Giant Submarines at 2906 Diamond St. are taking a well-deserved retirement.
Since 1995, Betty & Steven Chang have been working from early morning to after 5:00 pm providing the neighborhood with an eclectic assortment of sandwiches and lunch items.
Those included the submarine sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs and fries the original store was known for as well as teriyaki rice plates, Vietnamese spring rolls (nem cuốn) and their excellent bánh mì. These are Vietnamese sandwiches that can include pork sausage or pâté , cilantro, cucumber, pickled carrots, and pickled daikon combined with red chili and mayonnaise.
The couple’s last day will be March 17th, 2023.
Rumor has it a Vietnamese restaurant will be taking over the space. No opening date has been announced.
