Tuesday was a star-studded day at Glen Park BART when Seth Rogen and Olivia Wilde spent much of the afternoon filming a new romantic comedy titled “The Invite” in the station.
The film is being directed by Olivia Wilde and was written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.
Cameras followed the actors as they rode BART, blending in with regular riders who streamed on and off the trains. Shooting wrapped up by around 5:00 when a crowd of extras was led to waiting vans by production staff sporting bright yellow safety vests.
The movie’s plot involves a married couple (Rogen and Wilde) who are going through a rough patch in their relationship. They are invited by their neighbors (Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton) to engage in their weekly orgies, “igniting an evening full of unexpected twists and turns, revealing deeply repressed emotions and unexplored sexuality,” according to Variety.
It is an English language version of the Spanish film “Sentimental” (“The People Upstairs” in English,) by Cesc Gay.
The last time a major movie was filmed at Glen Park BART was in 2006, when Will Smith’s “The Pursuit of Happyness” spent several days here and redecorated the station with 1981 ads.
According to the San Francisco Standard, earlier on Tuesday Wilde and Rogen filmed at A.P. Giannini Middle School. Shooting will also take place in the Castro and at the Make-Out Room, a bar and dance spot in the Mission.
