The trees of Glen Park, both street trees and those visible in neighbors’ front yards, are featured in the current entry on the website, sftrees.com.
San Francisco tree admirer Mike Sullivan, venture capital lawyer by profession, has taken it upon himself to catalog the trees in the neighborhoods of San Francisco to generate some attention and love for these everyday features of our local urban landscape.
On his website, Sullivan refers on the “Book” tab to a feature in the Glen Park News by Murray Schneider and Kay Estey:
While our neighborhood has its share of parks with lovely trees–Glen Canyon Park, Dorothy Erskine Park, Fairmount Plaza, neighborhood street trees are under stress. Narrow sidewalks and tiny tree basins cause hazardous raised and cracked pavement as street trees seem more like obstacles to be overcome in our daily lives. Sullivan reminds us that trees in Glen Park are welcome representatives of the natural world.
