When Ann Kathryn Weinstein purchased a small home on Surrey Street in 1983, she knew this was where she wanted to live. Glen Canyon Park was nearby. The neighbors were friendly. The neighborhood included a library, grocery store, BART station and restaurants, amenities that remain today.
Ann passed away peacefully at the Frank Residences on April 28, 2026.
Ann, who graduated with both a Master of Social Work and a Master of Business Administration degrees, had been an accomplished nursery school teacher and administrator. Professionally, her last jobs were running the nursery school programs for the San Francisco Jewish Community Centers; and then, heading Early Childhood Education programming for the Jewish Federation.
She was also a world traveler, visiting England, France, Italy, Switzerland, India, Brazil, Russia, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Ann and her beloved dog were familiar Glen Park denizens up until last year, when she moved into an assisted-living facility, though Glen Park neighborhood friends continued to visit her there.
She is survived by her sister Eleanor Wiley; her children (Christine, Steve, Kathryn and Mark Weinstein); her granddaughters Electra Weinstein and Nicole Ratliff; great grandchildren (Ginger, Lilly, Terry Jr. and Wylie); and her dog Jack, who has become a New Yorker living with Kathryn and her family.
