October in San Francisco is already perfection but it’s going to be even better! On October 1st the SF Board of Supervisors, with the initiative of District 8 Supervisor Mandelman, unanimously passed a resolution announcing the first ever San Francisco Stairway Month!
The proclamation kicks off a slew of great events, including the installation of the tiling of Glen Park’s awesome Burnside Steps. The coordinators for the events are the District 8 office, SF Parks Alliance, and Burnside Mural+. Also pitching in is our fabulous Glen Park library branch.
SF Stairway Month 2024 will include free events that showcase our city’s love and commitment to SF stairways including a guided walk across five of the City’s tiled staircases, a talk with the author behind Stairway Walks in San Francisco, and a learning session focused on the development of new tiled stairways. The tiling of the Burnside Steps is also scheduled to be completed at the end of the month, with a ribbon cutting tentatively planned for October 27. You can find a full schedule of SF Stairway Month events here.
Please note that reservations are strongly encouraged to ensure a spot for the tiled stairway walk and the learning session. Go to the links to get your spot now!
