CHECK IT OUT AT THE LIBRARY–What’s on in December

November 25, 2025 by Ren Heiber, Branch Manager, Glen Park Library

To best experience the shorter days and busy season of December, Glen Park Library invites you to create, connect, and pause. Here are just a few highlights of the numerous varied programs we’ve plannned for you:

  • Create: Pick up a 3″ x 3″ canvas at the Service Desk to contribute to the Glen Park Tiny Art Show, debuting at our un-bee-lievable open house January 31st. Build a miniature art studio to display your tiny art at home with Tammie Knight January 6th.
  • Connect: Swap art supplies December 14th, or join our Watercolor and Associates circles December 12th and 26th to work on your tiny art canvas. Learn from others in our Infant Parent Support Group or explore child development through play in the 9‑week Play with Purpose series.
  • Pause: Discover Simple Practices to Feel Calm and Centered December 17th and reflect on the year with New Year’s Writing December 29th. Lose yourself in a movie like the SF-filmed Fruit Fly, Dick Van Dyke Christmas-adjacent Fitzwilly, or thrilling Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month, thanks to the support of Friends of the SFPL. To keep track of all Glen Park Library activities, stop by to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.

In March 2024 the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission removed 11 trees from four acres on the north side of O’Shaughnessy, just beyond where the last block of Bosworth makes a right turn. The eucalyptus trees were planted more than 100 years ago and were at risk of falling. Furthermore, access is needed for firefighters in case of wildfire in the area of Glen Canyon Park.
SFPUC was replacing the trees on December 9 with California native plants, which will attract birds, insects, and pollinators. “The goal is to extend the riparian corridor around Islais Creek in the canyon using native plants to create a fire break that also nurtures local fauna,” wrote Heather World in The Glen Park News when the plan was first announced.
Glen Park neighbors were invited to join in on Tuesday, December 9, 9:15am–12:30pm, for a volunteer workday.
