We’re celebrating a 🌈rainbow of experience as we dive headfirst into the new year at Glen Park Library — and hope you choose to join us for the adventure. Mark your calendars for our January 31st 11-3pm Open House featuring live music, a bee demonstration with honey tasting, crafts led by community groups, a nature walk led by local volunteers, the debut of the community-powered Glen Park Library Tiny Art Show, and discounts at local businesses. For this special jubilation we’re inviting you to purchase and enjoy their delicacies in the library as you enjoy all the day has to offer. 🐝You bee-long in the library!!
Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the ever-popular Jo Ming Athletic Association Lion Dance in the library program room January 18th and join us the following day, January 19th, in BART plaza to experience an indigenous dance tradition from Mexico with Danza Azteca Xitlalli-Xolotl.
As a complement to our 🏳️🌈January 6th, 4pm, Drag Story Hour🏳️🌈, we’re hosting our first-ever Gender Affirming Clothing Swap January 25th in collaboration with the San Francisco Office of Transgender Initiatives, Our Family Coalition and the James C. Hormel LGBTQIA Center of San Francisco. We’re overjoyed to offer this opportunity for people of all ages to find community, support, and new-to-you clothing to express or explore your gender identity.
We’ve also got a poetry reading with youth poets and SF Poet Laureates, diabetes empowerment education for older adults with On Lok, wellness coaching strategies, teen-led STEM activities for youth ages 8-12, nature-based playtime and so much more!
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month, thanks to the support of Friends of the SFPL. To keep track of all Glen Park Library activities, stop by to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.
