Help us celebrate those who have passed by contributing anything that serves as a remembrance for a loved one to our community ofrenda for Día de los Muertos, on display in the library from November 1st-November 9th. Bring flowers, photos, letters/notes, sealed food/drink or any small keepsake or trinket that serves as a remembrance to your loved one. You may pick up your contributions for up to two weeks after we remove the display.
Along with the community ofrenda, we’re also offering a wide range of community-building events in November including improv theater games, Glen Park History Night, a LEGO minifigure program, board game swap, aging and dying circle, karaoke, family dance parties, infant parent support groups, weekly writing group, Saturday morning playtimes, watercoloring, Junior Readers Book Club, and sock darning.
And did you know that Glen Park Library participates in MED-Project, offering free mail-back supplies for expired or unwanted household medication and sharps? We’re doing our part to help you dispose of medicines safely, to prevent accidental ingestion or misuse by others, including children and pets, and keep them from polluting our environment. Just ask for your free mail-back envelopes or box (for sharps) at the library Service Desk.
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month. To find out about all the Glen Park Library activities, stop by to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.
