9:25am  Unit Blk Chenery  Burglary
Officer Morgante responded to the unit block of Chenery Street on a
reported burglary call. Once he arrived, He spoke with both the
victim/owner of the residential flat and a witness who happened to be
the victim’s mother. The witness told Officer Morgante that she was in
from out of town helping her son and his wife care for their newborn
child. This morning, she happened to be looking out the front window
and observed a suspect acting suspicious from across the street. This
suspect walked into an alley in between two buildings then
re-appeared, looked both ways, then crossed the street, walking
directly towards her son’s garage. The witness then heard a noise that
sounded like the suspect was attempting to open the garage door. The
witness went and got her son/victim telling him what was occurring.
The son immediately went outside and saw the suspect walking away. The
son tried to get the suspect’s attention but was ignored. The son then
witnessed the suspect trying to get into another gate of another house
down the block but was unsuccessful. The suspect then turned the
corner out of the victim’s view.  Officer Morgante broadcasted the
suspect’s description, who was quickly detained not too far away by
Officers Park and Chang. Both the victim and witness identified the
suspect as the one trying to gain entry into their garage area. The
suspect was arrest and transported back to Ingleside Station. During a
booking search, Officer Chang found methamphetamine on the suspect’s
person, thus adding another charge. The suspect was then interviewed
and booked for the attempted burglary and drug possession. Report
