Crime report: June 6 – June 19, 2013

June 25, 2013 by Elizabeth Weise

Thursday, June 6th, 2013

4:25pm       Unit Blk Arlington       Battery/Resisting
Officers Cross and Burke responded to a call of an intoxicated
individual who was harassing people.  They arrived on scene where
various individuals pointed out the suspect.  The suspect appeared
extremely intoxicated and was drinking an open container of alcohol.
He refused to comply with the officers’ directions to put down the
bottle of alcohol and became belligerent.  After a brief struggle, the
officers were able to take the suspect into custody.  He was
transported to the county jail due to his level of intoxication as the
officers determined he was unable to care for himself.

At the county jail, a record check revealed an outstanding warrant and
the suspect was booked upon confirmation of the warrant.  Report

Officers Dove and Morse responded to a noise disturbance.  They met
with the reportee who advised that loud noises were coming from a
certain apartment which he pointed out to the officers.  The officers
knocked at the door and a female answered.  She told them that she had
been on the phone and that no one else was in the home.  The officers
asked if they could check the home to be certain everything was okay
and the woman allowed them in.  In one of the bedrooms, they located a
male hiding under some sheets, who they detained. They searched the
other bedrooms to be certain there were no other occupants inside the
apartment.

A search of the male for weapons located what felt like a metal piece
in one of his pockets. The officers removed a suede pouch from his
pocket which contained the metal piece.  Inside the pouch, officers
located several credit cards containing various people’s names.
Neither the male nor female were able to provide any form of
identification to the officers.  The female provided the officers with
a name, but one of the identification cards found on the male suspect,
who closely resembled her, exhibited a different name.  Because the
apartment was not furnished, and boxes were strewn everywhere, the
officers began asking the suspects how long they had resided there.
The suspects said they had just moved in, but were unable to provide
them with any paperwork. Officers searched the home for any paperwork
which might show they were legally in the apartment.  Various pieces
of mail were located with different names.  Officers began to suspect
the mail was possibly stolen.  One of the addresses was in the Park
district.  The officers requested that a unit from Park station
respond to the address, to see if the individual whose name was on the
mail had been the victim of a crime.

Sgt. Torres from Park station heard the broadcast over the air and
responded to the scene.

At the scene, Sgt. Torres identified the male and female suspects as
individuals of interest in an active fraud case he was investigating.
He placed them both under arrest.  A protective sweep of the apartment
also located, in plain view, a glass pipe known to be used to ingest
methamphetamine, and a foil bindle containing a white crystal
substance that appeared to be methamphetamine. A forged mail box key
was also located, as well as several other pieces of mail, which were
not addressed to either suspect.

Both suspects were transported to Ingleside station and booked at the
instruction of Sgt. Torres.  Pictures were taken of all evidence
seized and all items were booked.  The narcotics tested positive for
methamphetamine and was hand carried to the Narcotics Drop Box at the
Hall of Justice.  Report Number 130478870

5:02am       5200 Blk Diamond Hts Burglary
Officer Trujillo and several other Ingleside officers were sent to
investigate a suspect who was attempting to gain entry into an
apartment complex.  They arrived on scene and spoke with the reportee
who told them that two males were jiggling the door knob and
attempting to gain entry into the complex.  He confronted the males
who told them to “let them in” and that they were “new” to the
building.  The reportee did not recognize the males and went inside to
call the police.  When he returned to the front of the building, he
noticed the two males sitting inside of a vehicle parked outside.  The
two suspects exited the vehicle and, again, asked the male to let them
inside.

Officers arrived on scene and detained the two males.  The males said
they were visiting a relative and showed the officers keys to enter
the building.  The officers attempted to open the front door with the
keys, but were unsuccessful.  The two male suspects then said they
were visiting a friend, and not a relative.  Both were transported to
Ingleside station pending further investigation.

A computer check of the vehicle returned as a rental car.  Both
suspects denied knowing anything about the vehicle, and told the
officers that they had not been sitting inside of it.  The officers
contacted the rental car company who refused to provide any
information on the vehicle, and said they would have the vehicle towed
from the scene.

At Ingleside station, a computer check showed both suspects were on
active probation.  An arrest search located burglary tools on one of
the suspects.  At the instruction of Sgt. Garrick, both males were
booked for the attempted burglary and violation of their probation.

12:30am     Bosworth/Diamond      Robbery
Ingleside Officer Lockett was sent to the intersection of Diamond and
Bosworth after two victims reported they were robbed by three men of
their belongings. When he arrived, Officer Lockett found the two
victims with facial injuries, sitting on the sidewalk in front of a
closed business. The victims told the officer they were waiting for a
bus when three men, wearing dark shirts and baseball caps, approached
and asked if they had any money. The victims told the suspects they
didn’t understand English. Without provocation, the suspects started
punching the victims while snatching a computer bag.  The suspects
then fled the area and boarded a waiting getaway vehicle. The victims
were taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of their
injuries.  They were unsure if they would be able to recognize the
suspects.  Officers canvassed the area for the suspects and the
vehicle to no avail.  Report number: 130488487

3:29am       Unit Blk Natick             Narcotics
Officer Ferronato was dispatched to the call of a suspect looking into
vehicles.  He arrived on scene, along with several other Ingleside
officers, and detained a male matching the suspect description.
Dispatch advised that the reportee/caller was still on landline with
them and that the police had the correct man detained.

Officer Ferronato met with the reportee who told him that she was
looking outside of her window when she saw the suspect looking into
car windows with a flashlight.  The suspect then entered and sat
inside of her neighbor’s vehicle. She signed a citizen’s arrest to
have the suspect arrested, once it was confirmed that he had no
permission to be inside of the vehicle.

The officer made contact with the owner of the vehicle, who confirmed
he did not know the suspect, and did not give him permission to be
inside of his vehicle.  The inside of the vehicle had been ransacked
and officers took pictures of the damage, which they booked into
evidence.

A probable cause search of the suspect located a checkbook and an out
of state license, which did not belong to him.  Officer Ferronato
contacted the owner of the checks, who confirmed that he had been the
victim of a crime, and that his checks had been stolen.  He said that
he did not know the suspect and gave no permission for anyone to be in
possession of his checkbook.  The officers also found the suspect was
in possession of glass pipes, known to be used to ingest
methamphetamine.  The suspect was transported to Ingleside station
