Dear Ingleside Community,
As we move through February, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has already been a meaningful and eventful start to the year here in San Francisco.
Earlier this month, our city proudly hosted Super Bowl events that brought visitors from across the country and around the world. Large-scale events like these require extensive coordination and planning to ensure public safety. I am proud of the professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the men and women of the San Francisco Police Department, including the members of Ingleside Station who supported citywide operations. Thanks to strong collaboration between public safety agencies, community partners, and event organizers, the festivities were conducted safely and showcased San Francisco at its very best.
February also gives us the opportunity to honor Black History Month and recognize the profound impact of Black leaders and communities here in San Francisco. We reflect on the legacy of Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett, civil rights leader; Willie L. Brown Jr., former Mayor of San Francisco and Speaker of the California State Assembly; and Maya Angelou, who spent formative years in our city and whose voice continues to inspire generations. As we celebrate these legacies, we remain committed to strengthening trust and serving every member of our community with dignity and respect.
Additionally, we celebrate the Lunar New Year, a vibrant and deeply meaningful tradition for many of our residents. This year marks the Year of the Horse, a symbol of strength, perseverance, energy, and progress. The Horse represents determination, community spirit, and the drive to move forward with purpose—qualities that strongly reflect the resilience and contributions of San Francisco’s Chinese community. As celebrations take place across our city, Ingleside Station remains committed to ensuring that all families can gather and honor their traditions safely. We are grateful for the continued partnership and cultural richness our Chinese community brings to Ingleside and to San Francisco as a whole. I am also encouraged to share that San Francisco continues to see declining crime trends in several key categories. While there is still work to do, these improvements reflect focused enforcement strategies, strong investigative work, our Real Time Information Center, and our City wide Plainclothes Team. Public safety is a shared responsibility, and your engagement, reporting, and collaboration make a real difference. As we continue through 2026, Ingleside Station remains committed to proactive policing, community engagement, and transparency. We encourage you to attend our upcoming community meetings and stay connected with us regarding neighborhood concerns and public safety updates. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we will keep working to make Ingleside and all of San Francisco safer for everyone.
Sincerely, Captain Newbeck
