Thursday, March 12th, 2015

4:30pm Kern/Brompton D.U.I
The call came in as an unresponsive man in a vehicle with the engine
running. Ingleside Officers Shugars and Imsand were dispatched and
found the driver slouched over the steering wheel of a late model
Hyundai. The officers tapped on the window which alerted the driver
whose vehicle rolled backward several feet before stopping. The
officers asked the driver to step out and he complied. He told the
officers that he’s been working long hours and not getting enough
sleep. However, the officers noticed his speech was slurred and his
breath smelled of alcohol. He told the officers that he had a few
drinks that afternoon at a nearby tavern and had only eaten a half of
sandwich that day. The officers conducted a roadside sobriety test
which he failed. They received permission from the suspect for a
breath test which subsequently revealed a blood alcohol level of .120,
far above the legal limit of .09. He was transported to the County
Jail for booking and then to General Hospital for treatment of a
chronic infection. Because of his illness he was later cited and
released with a promise to appear in court. Report number: 150222362

*****Ingleside Criminal Nonsense of the Week*****

Monday, March 9th, 2015
4:58pm 50 Phelan Delaying/Resisting
City College Police Officer Flood was on patrol at CCSF’s Ocean campus
when he witnessed a male suspect, whom he believed to be smoking
marijuana in the parking lot by Conlan Hall. He then asked the suspect
to provide him with some identification; however the suspect hesitated
and stated that he likely had a warrant out for his arrest. The
suspect then turned away from Officer Flood and proceeded to flee on
foot. The suspect’s description was then radioed to other officers in
the area and a search was immediately conducted. Officers were then
advised that the suspect was spotted running across the pedestrian
bridge towards eastbound Geneva Ave. It was believed that the suspect
proceeded to enter the Balboa Park BART station and was attempting to
hide from officers within the BART system. At approximately 5:25pm, a
suspect matching the description was spotted at Glen Park Station by
an SFPD officer. In the interest of safety, the BART system was shut
down between Daily City and Glen Park stations. The suspect proceeded
to run through the BART tunnel towards Balboa Park, and was finally
taken into custody. Report Number: 150212965

Saturday’s Glen Park Greenway Work Party is Cancelled.

“I’m very sorry to say that
we have cancelled our Work Party for this Saturday July 12, along with all organized volunteer activity on the Greenway until further notice.
As you may have read in the news, our fiscal sponsor, San Francisco Parks Alliance (SFPA), has shut itself down. Just as SFPA has shut itself down, the Greenway, as an organized part of SFPA, has also been “shut down.” We are busy looking for a suitable alternative fiscal sponsor that is willing to replace SFPA. That search is going well but it is a slow process. We had hoped to find temporary ways to enable the Greenway project to function responsibly as a community activity without a fiscal sponsor. Sadly, despite our best efforts and the help of many others in Glen Park, we have failed. That is why we must cancel our Saturday Work Party and discontinue future work parties and other organized volunteer activity on the Greenway (like weeding and watering) until further notice. We recognize that the Greenway is public open space and that the organizers of the Greenway project have no control over the activities of you or of anyone else on the Greenway. However, if you do venture onto the Greenway to satisfy your urge for outdoor recreation, please be aware that your activity is not in any way organized or sanctioned by the organizers of the Glen Park Greenway project. I’m well aware of the efforts that many of the
Greenway’s supporters are making to get the Greenway organized with a new fiscal sponsor and I’m confident that this will be arranged within weeks or perhaps a few months.
However long it takes, I will contact you with news of our progress.
Many thanks for all that you do for the Greenway.”

Wonder what’s stopping just organizing it separate from that non-profit. It seems like the volunteers largely come from Glen Park.
