Were you alive in 1981? Do you remember the end of the Iranian hostage crisis? The wedding of Charles and Di? How about Video Killed the Radio Star, which launched MTV?
Chances are, even if you remember those things, you don’t remember that was the year the Glen Park Association first secured a P.O. Box at the Diamond Heights post office.
What we didn’t remember was to re-assign responsibility to pay the biannual post box fee when our leadership changed, which meant we lost our beloved 31292 box. So if any of you sent us something in the last couple of months and it was returned, that’s why.
Thanks to the tenacious efforts of GPA Vice President Hilary Schiraldi, we managed to get 31292 back, after much pleading.
It’s true — she did not know the answer to the key question “who opened the P.O. box in 1981?” but perhaps her reply of “I don’t know — they’re all dead now!” convinced the clerk to reinstate our box.
So please re-send any mail returned to you. We promise it will end up in good hands this time.
