Greenway Work Party—Saturday, January 6

December 30, 2023 by Nicholas Dewar, Greenway volunteer project director

Our featured image is from San Francisco Public Works’ current newsletter, In the Works. They’ve highlighted our planting day last month in a thank you letter to all the volunteers who worked on beautification projects in the city this year. Here’s what they said about the Greenway:

In early December, 28 Glen Park neighbors and volunteers gathered at Glen Park Greenway for a planting day. Volunteer planting days are rare and are some of the most rewarding and enjoyable work that we do.

We jumpstarted the morning with easy conversation, coffee, and snacks before putting 140+ new plants into the ground. There were a few spotty showers, but the group persevered and completed the project in 2.5 hours. We can’t wait to see how it looks next year.

Our first Work Party of the New Year is coming up on the first Saturday in January: it’s just over one week away. I’m sure that you have a lot on your mind this week but I expect that your plans for that week-end are coming into focus now. Many thanks to those who have already contacted me to say that you will join us. Please email:

greenway@glenparkassociation.org

and tell me that you’ll be there too.

  • We’ll meet at 9am on Saturday January 6 at the top of the Chilton Avenue cul-de-sac. The nearest house address is 88 Chilton Ave. Thanks to Canyon Market we’ll have freshly brewed coffee.
  • At 12pm we’ll stop work and get together for sandwiches generously provided by Jamie Ennis Real Estate.

Even if you can’t come for the entire morning, please come for an hour or two – and please join us for lunch.

If you are planning to come to the Work Party or have my questions please email greenway@glenprkassociation.org.
We’ll send you the sandwich menu so that you can pick one and we’ll have it ready for you at lunchtime.

I hope that you’ll be able to join the Party on Saturday January 6.

Many thanks for all that you do for the Greenway, and a Happy New Year to you!

Nicholas Dewar, volunteer project director

We had a great Work Party Event on the Greenway on Saturday. Very many thanks to those who were able to join the party!

Many thanks to Andytown Coffee Roasters ( Andytown Coffee Roasters ) for providing the fresh coffee at the start of our Work Party
Event and to Jamie Ennis Real Estate ( SF Luxury Real Estate Agent ) for providing the delicious sandwiches ( Cheese Boutique ) for our lunch.

I look forward to seeing you at our next monthly Work Party Event on Saturday, September 12 (one week later than
usual because of the Labor Day holiday).

See you on the Greenway!
