Thank you to everyone who turned out Saturday night to celebrate Halloween! Haunted houses, crazy costumes, and championship basketball made for an exciting treat.

More than 100 but fewer than 10,000 people showed up from 5 to 9 p.m. to trick-or-treat on Chenery, which was closed to through traffic between Diamond and Elk. (We really have no way of counting, sorry)
Some neighbors were able to turn their TVs toward the street, so the crowd could see the Valkeries take the WNBA championship. We couldn’t have done it without the support of the 31 volunteers who worked 90-minutes shifts at the barricades to make sure any vehicles stuck on the street or needing to get home could navigate the crowd safely.
Huge props to GPA regulars Dennise Gearty for pulling those volunteers together and Elena DiMuzio for dealing with the barricades and permit and garbage cans. Jamie Ennis made sure our signs looked good. We also appreciate the generous neighbors on Chenery who gave out thousands of pieces of candy (some thankfully donated by the community and the GPA) and to all those who decorate or even make a haunted house.
Then of course there were also the Vella pumpkins this year, a championship of its own. Didn’t catch them? Here’s a YouTube video for consolation.

The next day a cleanup crew came through to grab candy wrappers and set things right.
Thank you to the GPA membership who pay their dues and donate candy, and volunteer for the neighborhood. And finally, thanks to our generous sponsor the Civic Joy Fund, which has generously funded the event these past two years.
