FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Glen Park Village Certified Farmers’ Market To Hold
Grand Opening on May 15

Concord, CA (April 29, 2011) – Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association (PCFMA) and the
Glen Park Merchants Association is proud to announce the opening of the Glen Park Village
Certified Farmers’ Market on Sunday, May 15. The new market will be held every Sunday from
10am until 2pm in the Glen Park BART parking lot. “We’re excited about the new addition of the
Glen Park Village Certified Farmers’ Market,” said John Silveira, Director of PCFMA. “The new
location will provide the community with access to farm fresh products from the farms that grow
the product, educational and kid’s events and a great atmosphere for the community to gather.”

The new market is a result of the efforts of the Glen Park Merchants Association and their
President, Ric Lopez. Ric and many others within the community have worked on bringing a
certified farmers’ market to the village for over three years and thanks to BART here we come.

A variety of local farmers will be there throughout the season to provide fresh seasonal produce,
such as strawberries, asparagus, cherries, peaches, and summer squash, and value added
agricultural products.

The Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association is the state’s largest operator of Certified Farmers’
Markets, with over sixty Certified Farmers’ Markets weekly in the Bay Area during the peak summer
months. Certified Farmers’ Markets are locations that offer only California-grown products sold
directly to consumers by the farmers that grew, nurtured and harvested the crops. All PCFMA
Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association markets accept WIC FMNP (Woman Infant and Children Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program
coupons) and EBT (the Golden State advantage food stamp cards).

For more information on the Glen Park Farmers’ Market please contact the Pacific Coast Farmers’
Market Association at (800) 949-FARM, (925) 825-9090, or go to www.pcfma.com.
