New police Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team

March 10, 2013 by Elizabeth Weise

Hi All,

At Supervisor Wiener’s Community Meeting for Diamond Heights and Glen Park on March 2, Capt. David Lazar, the new Director of the SF Police Academy, announced that the SFPD is starting a new program called the Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT). The program will recruit, train, credential, and uniform volunteers to assist law enforcement in the event of a natural or man made disaster.

The public is invited to an informational meeting at the San Francisco Police Academy, located at 350 Amber Drive, Parking Lot Bungalow, on Thursday, March 28th, at 7pm. Additional information can also be obtained by emailing sfpdalert@sfgov.org, or by calling Sergeant Mark Hernandez (SFPD, Ret.), SFPD ALERT Program Coordinator, at (415) 401-4615.

Best regards,

Betsy Eddy
President, DHCA
