A new yoga studio – Soluna – is coming to Glen Park. The studio, at 701 Chenery Street, is opening first as a popup on October 17 and then with a full slate of classes beginning November 1.
The owner is Natalie Donnell, who’s been teaching yoga in Noe Valley and the Castro for several years.
“This has been my dream,” she said as she and her daughter worked in the long-empty space.
The focus will be on yoga classes, including vinyasa and prenatal. “There will be healing classes, group events, sound baths, massage.”
But she also sees the space as a community center, including kids’ movie nights and dance parties.
“We’re really hoping to serve the community,” Donnell said.
Donnell’s background is social work and also is in recovery and hopes to use the space to support others in recovery, she said. The space will also host children’s programming , including yoga, movement, mindfulness and dance with an age range to begin with of five to 13.
The dance instructor for kids will be Ellery Stover, a dance student at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts.
“I will be teaching movement classes,” Stover said. “It’s dance, but not structured. More like being in your body, getting connected to yourself, to the ground, to the world.”
The studio fills the space that had been Glen Park Cleaners, which burned in a fire in 2022.
