Summer art classes at Miraloma Park Improvement Club

May 19, 2022 by Marilee Hearn

People who are interested in hands-on classes in drawing, painting and sculpture have an opportunity to learn and do close to home this summer.

Fort Mason Artists is a recently formed non-profit organization with the goal of providing life sculpture and figure drawing and painting classes for beginning and advanced students.  Four talented teacher/artists who previously taught at S.F. City College at the Fort Mason campus until C.C.S.F. closed its program in 2019 after 40 successful years, are now offering a series of figurative classes at Miraloma Park Improvement Club (MPIC) for students with all levels of experience.  With the use of experienced models from the Bay Area Artist Guild, students have the opportunity to resume their learning and teachers can continue to teach!

Along with the program offered by Fort Mason Artists, teacher/artist Mary Harden will offer classes on Monday and Tuesday in botanical drawing and watercolor painting.  Mary has been actively engaged in the MPIC Clubhouse and the community for the last 10 years. See her class description below.

Although some classes are already in progress, they are included to give prospective students information about the course offerings.

Congratulations to Sunnyside Elementary School for being awarded with a Glen Park Association Community Grant!
With that grant they were able to print a copy of The Ray for every student and staff at Sunnyside. The Ray, the school’s art and literary journal has been in publication for 17+ years.
🎥 This year’s theme is FILM, and students wrote scripts, designed movie posters, and painted Hollywood stars.
⭐️Glen Park Library, 2825 Diamond Street, features STARS made by Kindergarten classes, depicting their own Hollywood Walk of Fame.

See this and other student artwork from The Ray around Glen Park throughout the summer!
Visit @bello.coffee.sf and @thestrandsalon.sf for more art from Sunnyside Elementary!
