Sussex Crossing Update

May 5, 2017 by Heather World

Forwarded from Calvin Gee, SFMTA:

The concept that SFMTA is proposing for the intersection is a marked crosswalk and pedestrian-activated yellow flashing beacon, with some sidewalk widening on both sides of DH Boulevard at Sussex Street.

The MTA has received the design funding for the project, and I am working with our partners at Public Works (PW) to begin the topographical survey of the area. Due to the steepness and concrete characteristics (large concrete panels) of the street, this survey will be critical for the sidewalk improvements that would accompany the crosswalk. As you probably know, this is the steepest street in this DH Blvd/Elk street vicinity.

The anticipated schedule (set by our grant funding agreement) is below:
100% Design – July 2017
Advertise, Bid, Construction Start – December 2017
Open for Use – Spring 2018

Please bear with me, as I am working to the best of my ability to keep this project on the above timeline.
