Twin Peaks Trail Update

April 22, 2017 by Heather World

Forwarded from SF Rec and Park Department

San Francisco Public Works is moving forward as planned with the second phase of Twin Peaks Boulevard repaving. The paving work includes the portion of the “Figure 8” that is currently closed to motorists as part of SFMTA’s pilot road closure.

This work—and road closures and rerouting—is proceeding more quickly than we anticipated, starting Thursday, April 20. Click here for notice from Public Works and please contact Alex Murillo directly with inquiries related to the paving work and specific impacts to vehicle and pedestrian travel.

A few updates as to how this work relates to the Twin Peaks Figure 8 Redesign and Twin Peaks Trails Improvement Projects:

  • Rec and Park has completed the replacement of steps on the north (Eureka) peak of Twin Peaks (http://sfrecpark.org/twin-peaks-trail-access-update/)
  • Thanks to interagency coordination between Rec and Park, SFMTA and Public Works, the paving project will include improvements at the north peak trailhead, including moving the drain inlet into the street to mitigate flooding, installing a new stop sign, cross walk and soft hit posts and cutting an opening in the guardrail west of Twin Peaks Boulevard to connect to the new multi-use trail north of the north peak
  • The Figure 8 Redesign team is working on conceptual designs for the Figure 8: stay tuned for information about an open house in which these designs will be shared with the community
  • If you would like to provide your opinions on the pilot road closure / promenade, please do so by completing an online survey by clicking here.

For more information and updates on the Figure 8 Redesign Project, please visit the project page of our website: http://sfrecpark.org/project/twin-peaks-figure-8-redesign/

For more information and updates on the Twin Peaks Trails Improvement Project, please visit the project page of our website: http://sfrecpark.org/project/twin-peaks-urban-trails-project/

Thanks for your patience as we work on these exciting improvements!

Sincerely,

Melinda Stockmann
