Urban Angels helps homeless people in our neighborhood

August 28, 2018 by Nelson Barry III

Hello Champions of Human Rights and Social Justice,
Urban Angels SF offers events and projects in our neighborhood to help homeless people. There are many ways you can help! Please see the information below for the “Sort and Fold Pot Luck” of donated clothing on Aug. 30 at Nelson Barry’s law office in the Diamond Heights Shopping Center.

To join Urban Angels or attend our events, please do the following:

#1.
Please go to the Urban Angels SF Facebook page and “Like” UASF. https://www.facebook.com/Urban-Angels-SF-489326578182275/
Once you do this you will be added to our Closed Group which allows you to get announcements for the Core Volunteers and Friends of UASF.
Only people in the group will be able to see who is in the group and only group members will be able to see the messages we share with each other.
#2. EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT:

You are cordially invited to the next UASF “Sort & Fold Pot Luck” party with a special presentation to follow next Thursday, August 30, from 6 pm to 9 pm.  This will be at the UASF office (address below) which is also my law office.

The best way to RSVP is to “Like” Urban Angels SF Facebook page and then you will be added to the closed group of Volunteers & Friends which will trigger an invite to the party.

If you prefer, just email me at urbanangelssf@gmail.com to let me know you are coming and what you are bringing (appetizers, salad? hot food? desert? etc) so we don’t wind up with too much of one thing.
#3. END OF YEAR FUNDRAISER EVENT
Urban Angels SF is planning at least one end of year fund raising event so if you have suggestions on what we might do or where we might do it, your suggestions are most welcome. If you would like to be on the UASF End-of-Year Fundraising team, we would welcome you with open arms. End of year fundraising for nonprofits is generally the most productive so we want to take advantage of the opportunity.
#4. SHARED LEADERSHIP
UASF remains committed to Shared Leadership where everyone’s ideas are valued and every person is respected and honored for their contributions, no matter how small. This means that to us, you are a leader and we welcome your involvement.
#5. FUNDRAISING ANNOUNCEMENT:
We are desperately low on funds to buy hot burritos to deliver to the unhoused men and women on the streets of SF. We have just launched a campaign to raise $1,000 by the end of August. Please go to www.urbanangelssf.com and click on the DONATE button to make a contribution. Also consider making your donation a “monthly” one so that we can count on funds coming in to do our important work.
Please share the UASF website link with your friends, family and co-workers who may appreciate the opportunity to support you and this good work taking place right here in our own city.

Already this year we have hand delivered over 1,000 hot burritos into the grateful hands, and stomachs, of men and women living on the streets of SF. Thank you on their behalf for your past and continued support!

Congratulations to Sunnyside Elementary School for being awarded with a Glen Park Association Community Grant!
With that grant they were able to print a copy of The Ray for every student and staff at Sunnyside. The Ray, the school’s art and literary journal has been in publication for 17+ years.
🎥 This year’s theme is FILM, and students wrote scripts, designed movie posters, and painted Hollywood stars.
⭐️Glen Park Library, 2825 Diamond Street, features STARS made by Kindergarten classes, depicting their own Hollywood Walk of Fame.

See this and other student artwork from The Ray around Glen Park throughout the summer!
Visit @bello.coffee.sf and @thestrandsalon.sf for more art from Sunnyside Elementary!
