Free math tutoring for ages 8-16 at the library is back on Tuesdays from 4-5:30 by popular demand! Bring mathematics homework or math problems to work on and improve your math skills with one-to-one math support in basic math through Precalculus, provided by Lick-Wilmerding High School students. Students can also join a “math circle” to learn alongside other students or ask librarians for help accessing math learning resources.
And if you’d like to exercise your body and brain in one day, join us on Friday, October 10th for special Fleet Week experiences around Glen Park. Get your body moving in a complimentary naval inspired workout at The Clark Technique starting at 3:00 before visiting the library at 4:00 for an hour long Navy Band Southwest Woodwind Quintet performance and meet and greet. After grabbing a quick bite to eat, make your way to Bird & Beckett for a 6:00-8:00 special tribute to the U.S. Navy’s sailors on shore leave with Piano professor Eric Shifrin & the In Crowd On the Town.
We’re also offering Kathak Dance in recognition of Diwali, film screenings, cats and crafts (for youth ages 10-16), book clubs, a costume swap, the history of the Glen Park BART station and public transit in Glen Park, and even pumpkin carving thanks to a generous donation from Canyon Market.
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month. To find out about all the Glen Park Library activities, stop by to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.
