APRIL 25 – Lyell/Bosworth Mural Workshop
Our neighbors on Milton have done a lot of work to clean up the weedy trash-strewn hillside where Lyell meets Bosworth. Our neighbors on Arlington have removed weeds and trash from the ivy-choked hillside where Arlington meets Bosworth. Now the Bernal Cut (Arlington) Path crew has won a grant to paint a mural on the concrete canvas that is the freeway overpass between the two areas. Come give feedback on what it should look like! Saturday, April 25, 3 to 5 p.m., Glen Park branch of the San Francisco Public Library, 2825 Diamond Street.
APRIL 29 – GPA Spring Quarterly Meeting

Join us at the Glen Park branch of the San Francisco Public Library, 2825 Diamond Street, Wednesday, April 29, from 6:30 to 8 pm. for the quarterly meeting.
First we’ll hear from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission about public power, followed by a Neighborhood Hero Report:
Hero Cast of Characters:

Carolyn Deacy and Marian Dalere, Refuse Refuse
Rāmon Clark, Glen Park Merchants Association
Evelyn Rose, Glen Park Neighborhood History Project
Heather World, Glen Park Association

MAY 6 – Congressional District 11 Forum – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

How will D8 be represented in Congress after Representative Nancy Pelosi retires? Find out at a May 6 forum hosted by D8 neighborhood associations at the Randall Museum. Register here for a ticket to this free non-partisan event featuring the four candidates who met participation criteria: San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, State Senator Scott Wiener, Saikat Chakrabarti and Marie Hurabiell.
Moderated by Joe Fitzgerald Rodriguez, politics reporter at The San Francisco Standard, the event starts when doors open at 6:30 pm for first-come, first-serve seating in the museum’s auditorium. The forum starts at 7 pm.
Volunteers needed to help day of the forum. Roles include (but are not limited to) welcoming guests, crowd control, ushers, setup crew and cleanup crews. You can express interest by filling out the volunteer form.
MAY 23 – Monthly Neighborhood Cleanup – Let’s keep the streets clean!

Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. at Critter Fritters (670 Chenery St), and start the day with fresh-brewed coffee and snacks, courtesy of the Glen Park Merchants Association.
Every month the Glen Park Association and the GPMA partner with Refuse Refuse, a volunteer community effort to keep the city clean, founded by San Francisco resident Vincent Yuen in 2021. In the first two years, the organization removed 526,110 gallons of trash from our neighborhoods. Glen Park alone has cleared 1,260 bags of trash!
We pick up trash, weed the sidewalks and tree wells, sweep and remove graffiti, and all supplies are provided. It’s a great social event for young and old alike, and it’s also an easy way for students to log community service hours.
JUNE 20, JULY 18, AUGUST 15, SEPTEMBER 19 – Glen Park Night Markets

Glen Park Night Markets are back the third Saturday of each month, June through September. From 4 to 8:30 p.m., Kern Street and its parking lot will sparkle with crafts from local artists and makers against a backdrop of live music and DJ sets.
There will be a special section with activities for kids, including face-painting, stories, chalk drawing and bubbles to chase. Special offers from local merchants are also in the works.
Highlights:
• Local artists + artisan market
• Live music & DJs
• Pop-up vendors
• Family-friendly vibes – with kids area
• Community & merchant activations
The series is paid for by a grant from the Civic Joy Fund, which is responsible for First Thursdays downtown, block parties and other night markets across the city. It is produced by Di Brito of ArtWalk SF.
AUGUST or SEPTEMBER (date TBD) – District 8 Supervisor Candidate Forum – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
District 8 neighborhood associations plan to co-host a D8 Supervisor candidate forum, but we are still in the planning stages. Volunteers needed to plan the event, advertise the event, run the event – the possibilities are wide open. More information to come. Email us at info@glenparkassociation.org
OCTOBER 31 – Halloween on Chenery – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Once again Chenery Street will be closed from Elk to Diamond so trick-or-treaters can trick and treat safely!
Every year Halloween gets more and more elaborate in Glen Park. Neighbors decorate their yards, their porches, their garages and hand out thousands of pieces of candy. Indeed, one neighbor had a labyrinthine horror house leading to their backyard with a gigantic spider. Inflatable costumes are having a moment. There were dogs playing poker, pirates, princesses, superheroes and pop culture costumes easily recognized by kids and their parents but by no one else.
Call for Volunteers:
See why Glen Park was named the 35th coolest neighborhood in the world! Work a barricade for a two-hour shift, enjoy the costumes and occasionally escort a car to the edge of the street closure. Or donate candy for the houses on Chenery who hand out thousands of pieces on that night. Donations can be dropped off at Critter Fritters with Tony, who will get them distributed. If you can help or donate, please email us at info@glenparkassociation.org.
